Learning To Share Islam

Dawah training course by Islamic Education and Research Academy (iERA) on Saturday 11/09/2021 at Eastbourne mosque from 10:30am.

Have you ever explained Islam to anybody?  To a non-muslim?

Are you supporting a person new to Islam? Help is here! This session will give you the tools. ‘Dawah is worship and requires: sincerity and correct actions’.

Everyone has a role; men, women and our youths: You are all invited to join us on 11/09/2021 at 10:30am in our mosque.

The Programme:

  • 10:30am – Coffee and introductions
  • 11:00am – 1:00pm – Presentations by: Two experienced Dawah specialists Br Murtaza Chaudry and Br Imran Hussein – “Dawah.. what is it? What it means and the prophetic mission?”
    • Discussions on dawah, correct actions and supporting
    • Questions and answers session
  • 1:15pm – Zohar Salah
  • 14:00pm – Practical demonstration. The two speakers will carry out Dawah work in town. Both of them are outreach specialists of iERA focusing on UK dawah projects. Imran’s YouTube channel is linked here.

This is a great opportunity to learn from a very experienced team. Please try your best to be present for this stimulating and eye-opening session

Appointment Of New Trustees

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh brothers and sisters in Islam,

EICC is inviting members of the community to apply to be: a servant of Allah, the House of Allah and the community as new trustees of Eastbourne Mosque.

Please find below some information for prospective applicants and an application form which you can access from here.

What is EICC?

EICC is a Charitable Company registered with and regulated by Charity Commission. Trustees are responsible by law for ensuring that charities are well-run to deliver their charitable purposes for the public benefit as set out in their constitution.

The aim of EICC is to help the community fulfil religious, social and community objectives.

Role of Trustee

The role of trustee is vital in ensuring the charity, EICC and our masjid is run effectively and acts in the best interests of all communities. The role is regulated and governed by its constitution.

Eligibility criteria:

Candidates must :

  • Uphold Islamic values
  • Respect and follow EICC Constitution and Charity Commission Regulations
  • Have Clear DBS
  • Independence of thoughts and beliefs
  • Be a Team player
  • Declare any conflict of interests
  • Commitment to serve the Mosque and the community at large
  • Good communication
  • Participate in community activities

Selection Process

  1. The Board of Directors will notify the community of the procedures for applications to the Board of Trustees, and will provide a minimum period for receiving applications of 30 days.
  2. Applicants must be over 16 years of age and meet the above criteria.
  3. The cut-off date for submission of applications is 10th September 2021.
  4. Shortlist candidates will be informed by 31st September 2021. EICC may interview candidates if necessary.
  5. Appointment will be announced by 30th October 2021.

Prospective candidates are expected to familiarise themselves with:

• EICC Constitution (an electronic copy is available on request) and Charity Commissions Regulations

• The Charity Commission’s core guidance for trustees is The Essential Trustee: what you need to know, what you need to do (CC3).

August 2021 prayer timetable

Eid Ul-Adha 2021 Announcement

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh,

Dear brothers and sisters in Islam,

Eastbourne Mosque would like to announce that Eid ul-Adha will be on Tuesday 20th July 2021.

Monday 19th July will be the day of Arafah.

The first Eid prayer will be at 08:00 and second will be at 09:00 at Eastbourne Mosque.

Ladies side will be open and ladies can attend. Children are to stay with their parents

If you have temperature or a cold, you MUST NOT come to the Masjid, you must stay at home and get checked.

Although restrictions may be lifted, COVID-19 Measures will remain to be in place inside and outside the Masjid.

No booking are now required for attendance to the Masjid.

Please follow the instructions of the marshals as follows:

  1. Bring your own musullah
  2. Keep your mask on all the time
  3. Use the sanitiser
  4. There will be no handshake and hugging inside or outside the masjid
  5. Do not congregate inside and outside the masjid after Eid salahs. It is important to prepare for the next group. Please leave the masjid promptly
  6. Do not congregate outside in front of the houses as we do not want the neighbours to be disturbed.
  7. PARKING: Parking facilities are limited. Do not park on double yellow lines or the private side street. You are likely to be clamped.
