May 2018 Update

Assalamwalaikoum brothers and sisters in Islam,

This is our last jummah here and the next one will be in our new mosque. We thank the management of this community hall and the community around here in Langney for accommodating us and enabling us to fulfil our religious duty.

The first taraweeh will be the first time the entire community will be entering the mosque in sha Allah. It is a moment of great happiness. There will be volunteers guiding people around the wudu area and the way to enter the mosque from the front main door.

It is important that we put our shoes and sandals in the shoe racks and keep our front entrance clean and tidy. Please dispose of tissues in the bins. There may be problem with the sewage connection which has been delayed in the men section. For the ladies, there is no problem

The first iftar is very symbolic and we want to invite the whole community to come and break their fast together. Iftar will be in two stages. After azaan there will be water, milk, dates, fruits to break our fast. After Maghreb prayer, there will be food. Please stay for some food. As usual, the food is paid by groups of volunteers and no donation money will be used for this event.

The carpet will be covered with tarpaulin to ensure the mosque does not get dirty, and smell of food. It is important that we keep all food items and drinks on the tarpaulin. We do not want to waste food and therefore we urge those serving food to be careful and do not overload the plates. By all means people can have second helpings.

In order to reduce waste, we will not be providing water for Taraweeh. We ask people to bring their own bottle and water.

Unfortunately, the car park will not be available and we urge everybody to park away from the mosque. Please make sure there is no congestion around the mosque and reduce the noise level so that the neighbours are not disturbed.

We are pleased to share with you that Sr Fozia Malik is coordinating the ladies section. We look forward to more ladies and girls engaging with the mosque to make it a good community centre.

Finally, we have our building completed but building only does not make a mosque. We want our community to come and pray in it. It is built as a centre for prayer, for education and for social activities.

We thank everybody, the local, national and international community who have donated, helped, worked tirelessly behind the scenes, the jummah team, the ladies and the children who have collected funds, to make things happen and realise our mosque by the grace of Allah.

We look forward to welcoming you all in the new mosque In sha Allah.

Jazakom Allah khair,
