May 2018 Update

Assalamwalaikoum brothers and sisters in Islam,

This is our last jummah here and the next one will be in our new mosque. We thank the management of this community hall and the community around here in Langney for accommodating us and enabling us to fulfil our religious duty.

The first taraweeh will be the first time the entire community will be entering the mosque in sha Allah. It is a moment of great happiness. There will be volunteers guiding people around the wudu area and the way to enter the mosque from the front main door.

It is important that we put our shoes and sandals in the shoe racks and keep our front entrance clean and tidy. Please dispose of tissues in the bins. There may be problem with the sewage connection which has been delayed in the men section. For the ladies, there is no problem

The first iftar is very symbolic and we want to invite the whole community to come and break their fast together. Iftar will be in two stages. After azaan there will be water, milk, dates, fruits to break our fast. After Maghreb prayer, there will be food. Please stay for some food. As usual, the food is paid by groups of volunteers and no donation money will be used for this event.

The carpet will be covered with tarpaulin to ensure the mosque does not get dirty, and smell of food. It is important that we keep all food items and drinks on the tarpaulin. We do not want to waste food and therefore we urge those serving food to be careful and do not overload the plates. By all means people can have second helpings.

In order to reduce waste, we will not be providing water for Taraweeh. We ask people to bring their own bottle and water.

Unfortunately, the car park will not be available and we urge everybody to park away from the mosque. Please make sure there is no congestion around the mosque and reduce the noise level so that the neighbours are not disturbed.

We are pleased to share with you that Sr Fozia Malik is coordinating the ladies section. We look forward to more ladies and girls engaging with the mosque to make it a good community centre.

Finally, we have our building completed but building only does not make a mosque. We want our community to come and pray in it. It is built as a centre for prayer, for education and for social activities.

We thank everybody, the local, national and international community who have donated, helped, worked tirelessly behind the scenes, the jummah team, the ladies and the children who have collected funds, to make things happen and realise our mosque by the grace of Allah.

We look forward to welcoming you all in the new mosque In sha Allah.

Jazakom Allah khair,

April 2018 Update

Assalamwalaikoum brothers and sisters in Islam,

We have very good news to share with you and the entire community.

First good news is that we have raised enough money to complete Phase 1 of the construction. Phase 1 is the mosque is ready for prayer and the entire community has access to the new mosque.

The local and international Muslim community have been generous and your donations for Allah’s sake have made everything possible. We thank Almighty Allah for helping us all to build His House in Eastbourne. “Whosoever builds for Allah a mosque, Allah will reward him similar to it in paradise.” (Bukhari) inShaAllah.

“Whosoever shares in building a mosque for Allah, even if it is as small as a bird’s nest, Allah (S.W.T.) will build for him a house in Paradise.” (Ahmad) inShaAllah. It is sadaqua jariya (on going charity).

The second good news is that we will have some money left over which will help us run the mosque for few months. The running costs of the mosque will be substantial and we look forward to your continued donations inshaAllah. Please give generously so that we can maintain the mosque and provide new services.

We have plans for Phase 2:

We are in negotiation with British Rail to purchase the land next to the railway. InShaAllah this will provide valuable and secure outdoor space for our children and for other outdoor functions.

InSha Allah we also intend to build a third floor to create more rooms for more activities

We have InShaAllah ambitious plans to make the mosque self sufficient by generating income and by providing religious, social and educational initiatives. For these items we will make special appeals to raise the necessary funds.

Finally, we are delighted to announce the mosque will be ready for Ramadan. The first taraweeh will be in the mosque inshaAllah. As we all know, mosque is where Allah (subhana wa tala) is glorified, praised and remembered. Unite the Community and Encourage brotherhood: Establishes large gatherings of Muslims. InShaAllah, we look forward to everyone breaking their fast together in Ramadan at the mosque.

We urge the community to come forward and fill the mosque every day and night to make this unique Ramadan 2018 a time to be remembered for ever in the history of our mosque InShaAllah.
